WEEELABEX

WEEE Label of Excellence

The European standard and certification scheme for the collection, sorting, storage, transport, preparation for reuse and treatment of electrical and electronic waste.

WEEELABEX is a European certification scheme aimed at collectors and processors of waste electrical and electronic equipment. It describes the working method for treating discarded equipment, with technical requirements running across collection, sorting, storage, transportation, preparation for reuse, treatment and disposal.

Its scope makes it complementary rather than competing with data-focused certifications. WEEELABEX addresses how equipment is physically handled and processed; it is not primarily a data-security standard, which is why European operators frequently hold it alongside a data-oriented certification.

For a repair operation, the clause that matters most is preparation for reuse. That is the step where equipment stops being waste and becomes a product again, and it is subject to documented requirements, not left to judgement.
